Shinjuku is a special ward in Tokyo, Japan.

The novel number9dream is partially set in Shinjuku. PanOpticon, Jupiter Café and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building are all located in Shinjuku.

In an elaborate fantasy sequence imagined by Eiji Miyake, Miyake pretends to be Jōji, a co-worker of Ran Sogabe. In an effort to gain access to the offices of the law firm Osugi and Bosugi, he tells the receptionist Kazuyo that he does Harajuku normally but that he is covering Sogabe’s Shinjuku clients on that day.
